The MTI College Coordinators met yesterday for an update on the TILT Teaching Effectiveness Initiative (TEI).  Briefly, the TEI provides a professional development program and recognition mechanism for instructors looking to improve their teaching abilities and tools.  The TEI is based on and includes certificates tied to each of the seven domains in the Teaching Effectiveness Framework.  Through a Certificate program, the TEI provides participants a mechanism for recognition of their commitment to teaching best practices important in annual evaluations and promotion applications.  Completion of ten domain experience units earns participants a Certificate in that Domain.  Keep in mind that many professional development experiences are worth multiple domain experience units.  For example, participation in the Faculty Institute for Inclusive Excellence earns participants over 10 domain experience units and many workshops are worth five.  The general process for completing one or more domain experience unit consists of 1) participate in a professional development experience, 2) implement new teaching practice and 3) complete a reflection form and submit the form for approval.  Please contact Tonya Buchan for more information.
