About

Heather Short is a Fort Collins native and a Rocky Mountain High school grad. She received her B.A in international communication and media studies with minors in marketing and environmental science from Franklin College Switzerland (now University) in 2013. Short is currently an MBA candidate with the College of Business at CSU with an anticipated graduation date of 2023.

After college, Short went to work for the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. She worked as a social media coordinator for the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa as well as an orientation facilitator for Disney University. She left a legacy of being on the team that rolled out regional recreation contributions to newly formed social media accounts and created countless magical moments for her cast and guests.

In addition to her hospitality experience, Short brings knowledge working with a Destination Marketing Organization in Big Sky, Montana where she helped to create and implement a tourism and marketing master plan. She also brings skills from the ski industry by working as a senior marketing coordinator for Vail Resorts corporate headquarters in Denver, where she drove hospitality marketing strategies at an enterprise level.

In 2019, Short joined the team at the Avenir Museum of Design and Merchandising as the Visitor services and Venue coordinator where she thoroughly enjoyed learning how textiles weave us all together by driving marketing strategies and engagement strategies for the museum. As of April 2021, Short works in University Advancement as a Development Coordinator for the College of Natural Sciences at CSU.

In her spare time, Short serves on the Women’s Advisory Board for the city of Fort Collins and enjoys plugging into the community in as many ways as possible.

On a personal note, Short was married in August 2020 during COVID and lives locally with her husband and two dogs.
