4. How do I get to the Auraria Campus from the conference hotels? Getting to Auraria Campus (specifically to the Tivoli Turnhalle where you will register).
From the Curtis Walking - proceed northwest from the Curtis on to 14th street, follow 14th Street approximately two blocks to Larimer Street turn Left, follow Larimer street across Speer Boulevard (North and South bound) continue on Larimer past the ball fields to the traffic circle, the Tivoli will be in front of you to your right this is approximately a half mile walk.
Driving - because of the many one way streets in downtown Denver the route is a bit twisty, head southeast on 14th St toward Curtis St, turn right at Champa St. Turn right at Speer Blvd, then turn left at Blake St. Continue on Auraria Pkwy, turn left at 9th St, either park in the parking structure on the left or proceed to the lot on the right. The Turnhalle is on the southeast side of the Tivoli.From the Marriot Courtyard
Walking-hop on the free 16th street mall bus heading north bound to Larimer Street, get off the bus and head west, follow Larimer Street across Speer Boulevard (North and South bound) continue on Larimer past the ball fields to the traffic circle, the Tivoli will be in front of you to your right.

5. How do I get from the airport (DIA) to the hotel?
None of the conference hotels offer complimentary shuttle service. DIA's ground transportation can be found at http://www.flydenver.com/gt/index.asp. A map of DIA's ground transportation companies is located at http://www.flydenver.com/maps/tofrom/ground.asp
Shuttle service is provided by SuperShuttle. http://www.supershuttle.com/HowItWorks.aspx You can make advanced reservations and pay in advance with SuperShuttle. The van carries 9-10 persons and the average cost is $19 each way or $34 round trip.
Directions to catch the shuttle from your flight, take the train from the gate areas to the terminal and proceed up the escalators to Level 5 / Baggage claim. Claim your luggage, and then proceed directly to the SuperShuttle Denver counter (open daily 7:00 AM - 11:00 PM) across from the water feature under the Ground Transportation signs.
The SuperShuttle counter staff will direct you to the appropriate shuttle loading area on Island 3. When the shuttle is full the driver will drive into the downtown area and beginning taking you and your fellow passengers to your respective hotels.
Taxi Service costs approximately $50 each way. If shared and split with 3 people, the fare is comparable to the shuttle service but the time to arrive at your hotel will be reduced. Taxis are waiting outside baggage claim, with no reservation needed. The airport is located approximately 28 miles from downtown Denver, with a travel time of approximately 45 minutes depending upon traffic. Denver's biggest Taxis Companies are Metro Taxi 303-333-3333 and Yellow Cab 303-777-7777
Public Transportation
RTD (Regional Transportation District) offers Sky Ride for $10. Catch the bus on level 5, at Island 5 (Doors 507 or 511 on the East side or 506 or 510 on the west side), depart at the Market street station, transfer to the free 16th Street mall bus and then get off on the street closest to your hotel (Champa or Curtis) and walk to your hotel. You can also ride the bus directly to the Auraria Campus.
6. What is there to do in Denver?

See Getting to Know Denver for selected Denver events that are scheduled August 27 - August 30, 2009. We encourage you to come early or stay later to enjoy the many attractions Denver has to offer. What is there to do in Denver, well if you have to stay over Saturday to get a better airline ticket price maybe stay over Sunday too, as there's a preseason football game Chicago at Denver.
7. Can K-12 Teachers attend the conference?
Yes. The program is targeted to undergraduate and graduate students, post doctoral fellows, faculty and staff in the science disciplines. A program on Saturday, August 29, 2009 is scheduled specifically for high school students. See the Registration page .

9. What hotel can I stay in?
SACNAS National has worked with three hotels to provide accommodations for the meeting, Curtis Hotel, Courtyard Marriott and Residence Inn Marriott. Be sure to reserve your rooms by July 27, 2009. See Travel and Lodging for additional information.

16. How should I pack for Denver weather?
Check out the Denver weather conditions or on other weather websites. Generally, late August is usually quite warm, but it can be unpredictable. It is recommended that you dress in layers.
17. How will Denver's high altitude affect me? If you're not from a mountain state, be aware that you may get altitude sickness. Be sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day and limit your exertions. Follow the "High Altitude Tips".
