Industry representatives or Faculty and Students
This event brings the BioTech community of Northern Colorado together with students and faculty at Colorado State University to understand the partnerships that currently exist and explore new/additional opportunities to collaborate on research areas. Funding and support has been committed by Colorado BioScience Association, The Career Center at CSU, and Metro Denver WIRED Initiative.
This program will:
- Promote the student talent at CSU as well as provide employers with critical links to faculty and their research.
- Showcase our strengths and allow students and faculty to understand the research and products that are being developed and delivered in the Colorado BioTech community.
- Allow for businesses and CSU to discuss experiential learning opportunities such as internships and co-ops for students in the sciences.
- Provide faculty with input from businesses as to key/critical skills that industry is seeking.
- Foster potential research linkages between industry and CSU.
This event is scheduled to coincide with The Undergraduate Research Symposium to maximize the time of all participants. The tentative schedule is as follows:

Session I (All presenters confirmed)
Students – – The Product Translational Pathway from the Research Bench to Commercialization , Becky Rivoire, Director Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing and Academic Resource Center (BioMARC), will discuss the biopharmaceutical product translational pathway, related FDA regulations (including Good Laboratory and Manufacturing Practices), and career opportunities throughout the process.
Faculty/Industry/Students Untangling the Stimulus Package – Implications and Potential Partnerships with Local Biotech
Bill Farland, Senior VP for Research and Engagement, Hank Gardner, Associate VP for Research, and Ed Redente, former CSU Dean and Associate VP for Research, will facilitate a discussion on the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, areas CSU has identified as priorities and opportunities for potential industry partnerships.
Faculty/Students/Industry Clean Energy and CSU – Ken Reardon, Professor of Chemical and Biological Engineering, and Tim Reeser, COO of Cenergy, will discuss research and technology transfer activities related to bioenergy and the Clean Energy Supercluster. |

Students/Faculty – "The end of the product translation line: An Introduction to Human Subject Research and Clinical Trials", Poudre Valley Health Systems Presented by Kathy Kioussopoulos, RN, BSN, Cardiac Research Department Supervisor
- Learn the basics on how drugs and devices go from pre development to FDA approval via the clinical trial process and about potential career opportunities in this field
Industry/Students/Faculty Careers in Biosciences, a panel discussion. Moderated by Cheryl Hite, Business Development Manager with Nextgen and CytoAnalytics. Presenters include:
Industry/Faculty – "Tin Cup Basics for Small Businesses in Today's Tough Economic Times" Mark Wdowik, President CSU Ventures This session will discuss various avenues, approaches and sources of funding for today's small tech businesses - from government programs such as SBIRs/STTRs, partnering with a major research university, and asking Aunt Millie for loan, to approaching venture capital firms and angel funds.
